Abstract
The article discusses the biologically active elements of the artichoke (Cynara scolymus L.), pharmacological properties, and its effect on human health. Inulin, cynarin, phenolic compounds and flavonoids contained in artichoke are important for improving liver function, normalizing lipid and carbohydrate intake, and increasing antioxidant protection, according to scientific data. Izertlew's results show that artichoke is a promising plant to remain as a functional food as well as a phytotherapeutic tool.
