Abstract
This article extensively discusses the biological properties of the elm tree (Ulmus), its role in nature and human life, as well as its significance in ethnoculture. The author analyzes the morphological structure of the elm, its drought resistance, and its role in urban ecology from a scientific perspective. At the same time, the strength properties of the tree's wood, its use in ancient tools (in particular, plows) and furniture making are considered based on historical sources. The article also highlights folk legends associated with the elm and its value as a cultural heritage.
