Abstract

Entomophagous insects that naturally control pest populations in vegetable agrocenoses are extremely numerous. One of the most effective groups of entomophagous insects is syrphid flies. Syrphid flies (Syrphidae) are the most important component of vegetable agrocenoses, and during the larval stage, they benefit by eating vegetable pests, especially aphids. In the cabbage and cucumber agrocenoses of the Samarkand district, 9 species of syrphid flies belonging to the genera Sphaerophoria, Eupeodes, Episyrphus, Ischiodon, Melanostoma, Paragus, whose larvae have a predatory lifestyle, and 1 species of the genus Eumerus, whose larvae feed phytophagously, were identified. Representatives of the genus Sphaerophoria (Sphaerophoria rueppeli, S. scripta) were noted as dominant species in the study areas.
