Abstract

Plant components and pharmacological significance. The role of the Centaurea genus and research on biologically active components of plants. Reason for choosing the species Centaurea squarrosa: use in traditional medicine, potential richness in bioactive substances. Aims and objectives of the work. Identification of the main chemical components in C squarrosa. Conclusions on their activity (e.g. antioxidant, enzyme inhibitory). Consideration of possible relationships between chemical composition and ecological and biomonitoring issues.
