THE ECOLOGICAL BENEFITS OF USING ALTERNATIVE ENERGY SOURCES (SOLAR, WIND)
Main Article Content
Abstract
The paper examines the ecological problems of modern energy and the importance of alternative energy sources, primarily solar and wind power, as a solution to them. The negative impact of conventional hydrocarbon-based energy systems on the environment, on climate change and on human health is analysed. Drawing on the latest data of the international energy agencies (IEA, EIA, IRENA) for 2024-2025, the study shows the contribution of renewable sources to reducing greenhouse gas (CO₂) emissions, improving air quality and conserving water resources. It is noted that in 2024 energy-related CO₂ emissions in advanced economies fell by 120 million tonnes, while in the first three quarters of 2025 solar and wind together supplied 17.6 per cent of global electricity. Statistical forecasts of global energy transition trends and of economic benefits for public health are also presented.
