MAIN CHARACTERISTICS OF THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE SAMARKAND AGGLOMERATION

Abstract
This article analyses the main geographical, demographic and economic features of the formation and development of the Samarkand agglomeration. The study describes the territorial structure of the agglomeration under the conditions of urbanisation processes, its transport and communication system, migration processes and integration links with satellite settlements. In addition, the development of industry and service sectors, and the impact of infrastructure and renovation policy on agglomeration development are assessed on a scientific basis. The historical and cultural potential and investment attractiveness of the Samarkand agglomeration are presented as an important factor of sustainable territorial development.
