Abstract

This article analyses the hydrogeological condition of groundwater and artesian waters in the Republic of Karakalpakstan, the features of their formation and their quality indicators. Changes in the mineralization level and hydrochemical composition of groundwater resulting from the geoecological conditions of the region, the Aral Sea ecological crisis and the influence of irrigation systems have been studied. The rise of the water table, soil salinization and the factors affecting the ecological state of water resources are also elucidated. The study analyses the general hydrogeological features of the Lower Amu Darya, Ustyurt and Southern Aral Sea artesian basins.
