DYNAMICS OF VEGETATION COVER AND PHYTOCENOSES OF KHOREZM REGION UNDER CLIMATE CHANGE AND ANTHROPOGENIC IMPACT
Main Article Content
Abstract
The article examines the current state and dynamics of the vegetation cover of the main types of phytocenoses of the Khorezm region over the period 2000–2024. On the basis of field geobotanical investigations and the analysis of multi-temporal satellite images, a considerable reduction in the areas of tugai forests, halophytic meadows and reed thickets has been established. The main factors of phytocenosis degradation have been identified: salinization and deflation of soils, a decline in the groundwater level, a reduction in the flow of the Amu Darya and irrational agricultural land use. Priority directions of phytomelioration and of the restoration of the disturbed vegetation cover of the region are proposed.
