ON THE STUDY OF POLLEN MORPHOLOGY IN SPECIES OF THE GENUS INULA L.
Main Article Content
Abstract
In this study, an extensive analysis of foreign scientific literature on the pollen morphology of the representatives of the genus Inula L. was carried out. The analyses showed that the morphological characteristics of pollen grains are of great importance in distinguishing plants from one another in systematic terms. The pollen of the representatives of the genus was studied by means of light microscopy (LM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and the interspecific differences in their key diagnostic features were determined. As a result of the analyses, it was scientifically substantiated that the exine, the length and arrangement of the spines, and also the structure of the aperture are important palynomorphological characters for differentiating Inula species. It was noted that SEM analyses make it possible to evaluate pollen micromorphology with high accuracy and are of great importance in determining the phylogenetic and taxonomic relationships between species.
