Abstract

This article discusses the meaning and essence of the concept of gender equality, its theoretical and historical foundations and its place in modern society. It briefly reviews the international legal instruments adopted within the United Nations and the history of the recognition of women’s voting rights in the United States. It also analyzes the institutional and legislative reforms under way in the Republic of Uzbekistan to ensure gender equality, the role of women in the governance of the state and society, and the strategic gender goals set for the period up to 2030. The article concludes with scientific and practical proposals for further advancing gender equality.
