Abstract
This article analyzes the methodology for teaching multiplication and division to primary school students based on historical development, modern approaches, and unconventional methods. First, the history of the origin of these operations and the stages of their introduction into mathematics education are considered. Then, the currently used demonstration and practical methods are highlighted. In particular, the possibilities of developing interest in the subject and a deep understanding of students through unconventional methods based on play and physical activity are analyzed. The article serves as a theoretical and practical basis for choosing innovative approaches for primary school teachers and students
