Abstract

The article analyses the on-air practice of the news programmes of five regional television channels in Karakalpakstan (“Qaraqalpaqstan”, “ATV”, “ETV”, “TTV”, “Jaslar tv”) in 2021–2026 against indicators of linguistic competence. Using comparative and content-analysis methods, the study examines the observance of language hygiene in television news texts and the on-air stylistics of journalists and reporters. The analysis demonstrated the importance of linguistic skill for the quality of information delivery on television. Based on the findings, practical recommendations are made for improving the quality of news programmes and the communicative competence of journalists on regional television channels.
