Abstract

The article examines the scientific and methodological foundations of developing the thinking abilities of primary school students. It reveals the specific features of building students' skills in analysis, synthesis, comparison, generalization and drawing logical conclusions. The pedagogical potential of problem-based learning, didactic games and riddles is analyzed. The methods and criteria that ensure the transition from visual-figurative to verbal-logical thinking in the primary grades are also discussed.
