SEMANTIC INTERFERENCE AS A COGNITIVE-LINGUISTIC CAUSE OF ERRORS IN THE PROCESS OF LEARNING A THIRD LANGUAGE

Abstract
The article analyzes the phenomenon of semantic interference as one of the main factors causing errors in the process of acquiring a third foreign language (L3). Drawing on scientific research in the fields of psycholinguistics and cognitive linguistics, the author analyzes the mechanisms of interaction of language systems in multilingual consciousness, reveals the types of semantic shifts and their impact on the formation of interlinguistic meanings. Particular attention is paid to the role of semantic interference at the lexical level and conceptual structures.
