Maternal inheritance of mitochondrial DNA and its circular structure
Main Article Content
Abstract
This article discusses the maternal inheritance of the mitochondrial genome and the circular structure of mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA). It briefly analyzes the characteristics of mtDNA, its independent replication, and its significant role in cellular metabolism. The mechanism of maternal transmission and the importance of mtDNA in genetic diagnostics and hereditary diseases are also emphasized.
