Mineralogical and chemical characteristics of talc-magnesite raw material from the Zinelbulak deposit
Main Article Content
Abstract
This article discusses scientific studies of the mineralogical and chemical composition, structural features, particle size and thermal transformations of talc-magnesite raw material from the Zinelbulak deposit in Uzbekistan. According to data reported in the literature, talc and magnesite minerals constitute the bulk of the material from the Zinelbulak deposit. The results of X-ray phase analysis by the Rietveld method showed that talc accounted for 60.97%, magnesite for 27.74%, chlorite for 8.01%, dolomite for 2.90% and calcite for 0.38%. The chemical composition was found to include SiO₂ at 37.6%, MgO at 29.10% and Fe₂O₃ at 5.90%. Gravity, flotation and magnetic beneficiation methods can be applied to separate the minerals contained in the talc-magnesite raw material of the Zinelbulak deposit. In addition, magnesite decarbonation and high-temperature structural changes in talc are observed during thermal treatment. These data provide a basis for assessing the possibilities of integrated processing of raw material from the Zinelbulak deposit.
