Abstract

This article examines the mystical and semantic meanings of the symbols of “path,” “journey,” and “destination” in Uzbek and Turkish classical poetry from a comparative and typological perspective. In Sufi poetic thought, human life and spiritual perfection are frequently represented through the concepts of the path, journey, spiritual wandering, and reaching the final destination. Although these symbols literally refer to space and movement, on a deeper level they function as poetic representations of the purification of the self, the pursuit of spiritual knowledge, the acquisition of mystical experience, and the movement toward Truth. The study analyzes the functional and semantic characteristics of such motifs and images as the path, journey, destination, caravan, traveler, spiritual guide, and reaching the goal in the works of Alisher Navoi, Fuzuli, and other representatives of Turkish classical literature. It demonstrates that in Navoiʻs poetic thought, the motifs of the path and journey are closely connected with spiritual perfection, the concept of the perfect human being, and the search for Truth. In Turkish classical poetry, these symbols developed in close interaction with Divan poetic tradition, Sufi thought, and the concept of love. The study concludes that the triad “path–journey–destination” represents one of the significant mystical-poetic models of classical literature.
