Developing a sense of patriotism among students on the basis of literary and historical sources
Main Article Content
Abstract
Using a regional higher education institution as a case, the article explores the pedagogical potential of literary and historical sources for fostering patriotism among students. Folk epics, the legacy of nineteenth-century poets and texts carrying historical memory are analysed as educational resources. A four-stage methodological model (contextualisation, close reading, discussion and a practical project) grounded in the cognitive, affective and behavioural components of patriotism is developed, together with criteria for assessing it.
