Abstract

The article analyzes the amounts of mahr and bride price in the Amu Darya Division in the late 19th and early 20th centuries on the basis of archival documents. Drawing on data recorded in qadi court documents, it examines the amounts and forms of mahr and bride price and their place in marital relations. A comparative analysis of the value of certain payments in that period and at the present time is also provided.
