Abstract

Modern pedagogical technologies are a set of methods aimed at engaging students, motivating them to act, and developing critical thinking, self-analysis skills and reflection. One of the modern teaching technologies that yield positive results in developing students’ mental activity is the technology for developing critical thinking, the use of which helps to enliven a lesson and make it interesting and emotionally engaging. The distinctive feature of this pedagogical technology is that students themselves construct the learning process on the basis of specific goals, monitor the directions of its development and determine the final result; the use of this strategy is aimed at developing information-handling skills. The article describes the aim and objectives of the critical thinking technology, its teaching methodology, methods and techniques, and its effectiveness in teaching biology.
