Abstract

The article highlights the agrotechnological and ecological significance of growing mung bean (Vigna radiata (L.)R.Wilczek) under the specific soil and climatic conditions of Karakalpakstan. In Karakalpakstan, the sharply continental climate, high summer temperatures, limited water resources, soil salinization and the relatively low organic matter content affect the growth and development of crops. Under such conditions, mung bean is of particular value owing to its short growing season, relatively low water requirement and, as a legume, its ability to biologically fix atmospheric nitrogen.
