Effect of green manure crops on cotton flowering
Main Article Content
Abstract
Today, one of the important tasks for cotton-growing clusters and farms is to use natural methods for increasing soil fertility and cotton yield, as well as to develop and implement optimal solutions in this area. The research was carried out using the manuals “Methods of Agrophysical Soil Research” (Tashkent, 1973) and “Methods of Conducting Field Experiments” (Tashkent, 2007). The article discusses the effect of leguminous and cereal crops sown as green manure after winter wheat in a field experiment with a short-rotation 1:2 crop rotation (wheat:cotton:cotton) on the flowering of cotton grown in the following years. It was found that growing mung bean and soybean separately as green manure crops and incorporating them as green manure influence cotton cultivation; when the green manure crops were sown as two- or three-component mixtures, and when an additional 10 t/ha of manure was applied with the three-component sowing, flowering was slightly delayed compared with the variants where green manure crops were sown separately and the variant without green manuring, owing to the sufficient supply of nutrients.
