Abstract

In recent years, global demand for soybean has been increasing, since its seed is rich in protein, oil, carbohydrates, microelements and vitamins and is widely used in the food, feed, technical and medical sectors. Selecting high-yielding, disease-resistant varieties adapted to new soil and climatic conditions is an important way to ensure agricultural sustainability under climate change. The aim of the study was to determine the morphological traits and adaptation features of the soybean varieties Orzu and Nafis, introduced from the Republic of Uzbekistan, under the conditions of the Zhambyl region of Kazakhstan. The study was conducted at the experimental plot of Sh. Murtaza International Taraz University; plant height, number of branches, number of leaves, root length and plant dry weight were determined and compared with values recorded in the varieties’ region of origin. Plant height was 75.0 cm in Orzu and 54.5 cm in Nafis, exceeding the value observed in Uzbekistan (47.1 cm). Root length was 21–25 cm and plant dry weight 48–54 g. Genotype-related differences among the traits were revealed. Neither variety was affected by phytopathogenic diseases, and both produced a full-quality yield.
