Abstract

The article describes the effect of biostimulants on the yield components of the chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.) varieties Zumrad and Polvon under the conditions of Ellikkala district of the Republic of Karakalpakstan. The field experiment comprised 20 variants in 3 replications: seeds were treated with potassium humate (0.4–0.7 l/t), and Megafol and Aminokat 30 were applied as foliar sprays at the branching and flowering stages; Fitovak 20% served as the standard and plain water as the control. In the biostimulant-treated variants, plant height, the number of pods and seeds, and seed weight were higher than in the control. In Zumrad, the highest seed weight was recorded in the variant with potassium humate at 0.6 l/t and Aminokat 30 (0.4 and 0.5 l/ha) (10.64 g; 6.85 g in the control), and in Polvon, in the variant with potassium humate at 0.7 l/t and Aminokat 30 (0.5 and 0.6 l/ha) (10.01 g; 5.75 g in the control). In both varieties, the average seed weight in the Aminokat 30 variants was higher than in the Megafol variants. The values given in the article are means of 20 plants; their statistical significance will be assessed at the next stage by analysis of variance. The results indicate that biostimulants are promising for improving chickpea cultivation technology in hot and dry climates.
