Abstract

Based on the Land Degradation Neutrality (LDN, SDG 15.3.1) concept, the paper proposes a composite index of land condition for the regions of Uzbekistan. Using data of the Soil and Agrochemical Research Institute for 13 regions, the state and dynamics of soil salinity and humus were normalized and aggregated with equal and entropy weights. Samarkand, Andijan and Navoi are relatively stable, while Bukhara, Khorezm and Fergana are in a critical state. Under the strict LDN rule, degradation occurs in all regions. A regional monitoring system is proposed.
