Development of climate-resilient innovative technologies for monitoring and assessing water-use efficiency and the impact of soil salinization on crop yields in the Aral Sea region
Main Article Content
Abstract
Limited water resources, climate change, and growing soil salinization in the Aral Sea region significantly affect the sustainability of agricultural production. The aim of this study is to develop climate-resilient innovative technologies for monitoring and assessing the efficiency of water use, as well as the impact of soil salinization on crop productivity and the livelihoods of the population. The study envisages field observations, laboratory analyses, instrumental measurements, statistical analysis, soil moisture and electrical conductivity (EC) sensors, remote sensing, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and meteorological observations. The proposed approach integrates sensor data collection, analysis in a GIS-based digital platform, determination of irrigation rates, and water-saving irrigation into a single monitoring system. The expected results indicate that this system will make it possible to optimize water consumption, identify areas at risk of salinization in a timely manner, adjust irrigation regimes to the actual needs of crops, and stabilize crop yields.
