Abstract

The article describes the distribution, morphological features and ecological adaptations of representatives of the genus Ephedra (Ephedra L.) occurring in the natural flora of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, as well as their importance in desert ecosystems. Based on scientific sources, the growing conditions of ephedra, soil properties and mechanisms of adaptation to drought on the Ustyurt Plateau and in the Kyzylkum are analyzed.
