Abstract

This article presents a database designed for digitizing, systematizing and managing information on traditional melon varieties grown in Uzbekistan, together with a web application developed on its basis. The main goal of the study is to store the biological, morphological and economic characteristics of melon varieties in a single electronic system and to give users convenient access to these data. The system was developed using the PHP programming language, the MySQL/MariaDB database and HTML5 and CSS3 technologies. The database stores indicators such as the name of the melon variety, plant and fruit characteristics, fruit shape and colour, weight, leaf size, dry matter and total sugar content, yield, drought tolerance, transportability and keeping quality. An initial set of data on 108 melon varieties has been entered into the system. The web application makes it possible to view, search, edit and delete existing varieties and to add new ones. The results show that the system can be used for digitizing data in agroinformatics, plant breeding, agriculture and melon growing.
