Methods of storing melon fruits for different periods and in different ways
Main Article Content
Abstract
The article examines the results of storing melon fruits under different temperature regimes and storage methods. The study comparatively assessed the storability of the Tuyana, Zargulabi and Andraxon varieties, changes in the marketable quality of the fruits, weight loss during storage and the proportion of fruits lost as waste. The indicators obtained when melon fruits were stored under natural conditions and at +1…+3 °C are discussed. The results show the high storability of the Andraxon variety: after 20 days of storage under natural conditions, the proportion of fruits meeting the standard requirements in the studied size groups was 100%, and this indicator was maintained even after 60 days of storage at +1…+3 °C. The data obtained are of practical importance for selecting melon varieties and improving their storage regimes.
