Feed composition and its biological significance in fish feeding
Main Article Content
Abstract
The article covers the biological, ecological and technological principles of fish feeding in fish farms and the importance of natural and artificial feeds. Issues of developing the natural food base in the rearing of cyprinid fish under the conditions of Uzbekistan are analyzed. The role of pond phytoplankton, zooplankton and benthic organisms in fish nutrition and in increasing fish productivity is considered. The specifics of fertilizing ponds with organic and mineral fertilizers, supplementary feeding and the use of commercial compound feeds are also described. The effects of the proteins, fats, carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals contained in feed on the growth, development and survival of fish are characterized. The possibilities of increasing fish productivity by selecting feeds that match the species, age and biological needs of the fish and by combining natural and artificial feeding are substantiated. In addition, recommendations are developed for improving the economic efficiency of fish farms by optimizing feed costs and increasing feeding efficiency.
