Abstract

This article reviews recent scientific studies on the biological characteristics of soybean-nodulating bacteria, their taxonomic diversity, methods of isolation and identification, the use of 16S rRNA, nodC, and nifH genes, assessment of symbiotic effectiveness, tolerance of indigenous strains to abiotic stresses, and their prospects for application in the development of biofertilizers. Recent studies indicate that members of the genus Bradyrhizobium are the major symbiotic microorganisms associated with soybean. However, studies from different regions have also shown that representatives of the genera Rhizobium, Ensifer, and other rhizobial groups can form nodules on soybean roots.
