Exopolysaccharide synthesis by Streptomyces rochei strain N4 under salt stress
Main Article Content
Abstract
Exopolysaccharide (EPS) synthesis under salt stress was evaluated in Streptomyces rochei strain N4, isolated from soil affected by anthropogenic pollution and secondary salinization, and the results were compared with data from the international scientific literature. In medium containing 300 mM NaCl, the amount of EPS increased by 47% relative to the control, reaching 21.6 ± 1.2 mg/ml. The results provide a basis for exploring the prospects of using the strain to develop microbial inoculants that support plant tolerance in saline soils.
