Establishment of microbiology as a science, its practical significance and historical stages of development
Main Article Content
Abstract
Based on a literature review, this paper highlights the establishment, historical stages of development, and practical significance of microbiology. The biological diversity of microorganisms, their participation in global nutrient cycles, and their importance in medicine, agriculture, and industry are summarized. The scientific works of Antonie van Leeuwenhoek, Louis Pasteur, and Robert Koch are characterized as crucial factors in elevating microbiology from an observational discipline into an experimental science. The development of the discipline is systematized into empirical, microscopic, experimental, and molecular-biotechnology stages. It is demonstrated that the advancement of microbiology is intrinsically linked to the refinement of research methods and practical demands.
