Abstract

The aim of this study was to investigate the antimicrobial activity of bacterial strains isolated from soil. More than 20 bacterial strains were isolated from soil. Their antimicrobial activity against Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Candida albicans and Bacillus subtilis was evaluated by the agar block method. As a result, 11 isolates showed activity against S. aureus, with growth inhibition zones of 15–30 mm. No activity against the test microorganisms was observed in the remaining isolates.
