Evaluation of the antimicrobial activity of endophytic bacteria from the medicinal plant Ferula samarkandica
Main Article Content
Abstract
The aim of this study was to evaluate the antimicrobial activity of bacterial strains isolated from the medicinal plant Ferula samarkandica. More than 21 bacterial strains were isolated from the plant. Their antimicrobial activity against Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Candida albicans and Bacillus subtilis was evaluated by the agar block method. As a result, 6 isolates showed activity against S. aureus. The growth inhibition zones were 12–18 mm. No activity against the test microorganisms was observed in the remaining isolates.
