Current state and challenges of teaching microbiology and its role in the training of physicians
Main Article Content
Abstract
The paper analyzes the current state of microbiology teaching in medical higher education institutions, the progress achieved, the problems encountered in the educational process, and the importance of the discipline in training future physicians. The role of clinically oriented education, practical laboratory classes, interactive teaching technologies, digital learning resources and a competency-based approach in teaching microbiology is highlighted. It is argued that the growth of antibiotic resistance, hospital-acquired infections, emerging and re-emerging infections, and the development of modern laboratory diagnostic methods require regular updating of the content of microbiology education. Integrating microbiology education with clinical disciplines and developing students’ competencies in interpreting laboratory results, infection safety and the rational use of antimicrobial drugs are presented as an important condition for improving the effectiveness of training.
