SEMANTIC TRANSFORMATION OF PHRASEOLOGICAL UNITS IN THE PROCESS OF METAPHORICAL UNDERSTANDING

Abstract

The article studies the process of semantic transformation and reinterpretation of phraseological units in the Uzbek language. It is scientifically substantiated that phraseological units, having departed from their primary nominative meaning, acquire new metaphorical, expressive and linguocultural aspects in the context. It also shows the expansion of the semantic load of phraseological units in literary texts, their performance of socio-ethical and aesthetic functions. The results of the study reveal the important place of phraseological units not only in the language system, but also in cultural and spiritual processes.
