Abstract

Approaches to improving recombinant protein secretion in Bacillus subtilis are reviewed. Interactions between signal peptides, promoters, ribosome binding sites and host strain properties are examined. The literature highlights the need to coordinate protein synthesis, folding and membrane translocation to improve productivity.
