Abstract

The antibacterial activity of local Apis mellifera L. propolis extract (25–100%) was tested against Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923 and Escherichia coli ATCC 25922 using disc diffusion. Inhibition zones increased with concentration, reaching 18.5 ± 0.4 mm and 12.2 ± 0.5 mm, respectively, at 100% extract. The findings support further study of propolis as a natural antibacterial agent.
