Abstract

The resistance of strains isolated from heavy-metal-contaminated soils and collection strains of microorganisms to Pb²⁺ ions at concentrations of 48.0, 95.9, and 287.7 mg/L was investigated. Screening was conducted, culture optical density at 600 nm was evaluated, and morphological changes in cells were examined. It was found that Rhodococcus ruber 318, Bacillus cereus 138, Bacillus paralicheniformis, Bacillus subtilis, Bacillus atrophaeus maintained growth at high Pb²⁺ concentrations. At a Pb²⁺ concentration of 287.7 mg/L, the OD₆₀₀ values for B. cereus 138 and B. paralicheniformis exceeded control levels. The identified resistant strains are promising candidates for further study of lead resistance mechanisms and for the assessment of their potential in the bioremediation of contaminated environments.
