Cultivation methods for cyanobacteria: scientific principles and modern approaches
Main Article Content
Abstract
Cyanobacteria are photosynthetic prokaryotes with considerable ecological and biotechnological potential. This paper summarizes key approaches to their cultivation, including culture media, light, temperature, pH, gas exchange and mineral nutrition. Attention is given to BG-11 medium, nitrogen-fixing cyanobacteria and methods for assessing culture growth. Cultivation conditions affect biomass accumulation, photosynthetic pigments and physiological status. Strains from arid and saline regions of Uzbekistan require strain-specific optimization and standardized cultivation conditions.
