Abstract

Teaching English vocabulary to B2 learners presents various challenges related to lexical
complexity, retention, context usage, and learner motivation. This study investigates common difficulties
faced by upper-intermediate students and identifies effective pedagogical strategies for vocabulary
development. Data were collected through classroom observations, teacher interviews, and student surveys.
The findings indicate that insufficient exposure to authentic materials, limited active vocabulary usage, and
challenges in understanding polysemous words are the main obstacles. Solutions such as contextualized
learning, lexical chunks, digital tools, and task-based activities significantly improve vocabulary
acquisition. This paper provides practical recommendations and highlights effective approaches that can
enhance vocabulary teaching for B2 learners.
