Abstract

This article discusses the general pharmacological properties of cephalosporin antibiotics, the clinical use of their fourth-generation representative, cefepime, as well as its advantages and disadvantages. The broad spectrum of activity against gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms, its resistance to β-lactamases, and its pharmacokinetic advantages are analyzed. At the same time, the risk of the drug causing allergic reactions, nephrotoxicity, and dose-related side effects were also considered.
