Abstract

This article analyzes the philosophical foundations of speech therapy and its historical development. Speech therapy is described as an integrative science that deals with the identification, prevention and correction of disorders in human speech activity. It is shown that the theoretical foundation of the science was formed through the views on speech and thinking in ancient Greek, Roman and Eastern philosophy, biological, psychological and pedagogical approaches. In the 20th and 21st centuries, socio-cultural, neuropsychological and technological approaches have developed in speech therapy, and artificial intelligence, neuroscience, digital communication and biofeedback systems have been introduced into speech therapy practice. The article highlights the importance of the “biopsychosocial” model of speech therapy, person-centered therapy methods and innovative approaches in correcting speech disorders. At the same time, it is emphasized that speech therapy is aimed at explaining the speech, mental and social development of a person as a whole
