CHALLENGES AND SOLUTIONS IN TEACHING ENGLISH TO FOREIGN LANGUAGE LEARNERS

Abstract

Teaching English as a Foreign Language (EFL) presents a complex set of challenges that span linguistic, psychological, pedagogical, and technological dimensions. Empirical evidence suggests that over 60% of EFL learners struggle with pronunciation, grammar, and vocabulary acquisition, while teachers struggle with large class sizes (53.1%) and a lack of modern teaching materials (59.4%). Together, these factors hinder students’ language acquisition and teachers’ ability to teach effectively. This article examines these challenges from a scientific perspective, combining statistical data and recent research, and proposes evidence-based solutions that include adaptive pedagogy, technology enhancement, professional teacher development, and affective learner support. It can be concluded that successful EFL teaching depends on the integration of curriculum innovation, digital literacy, and student participation within context-sensitive frameworks.
