Abstract
This article examines the structural representation of adverbial clauses, their categorical status, internal structure, and syntactic placement within the framework of modern syntactic theory. Drawing on the principles of generative grammar and X-bar theory, the analysis examines how adverbial clauses function as adjuncts and how their syntactic behavior differs from that of arguments. The discussion examines the hierarchical organization of adverbial clauses, their levels of placement in sentences, and the implications of this for our knowledge of sentence structure.
