STRENGTHENING READING LITERACY IN STUDENTS THROUGH TEXT WORKING SKILLS

Abstract
The purpose of this study is to identify the role of text skills in the development of reading literacy of primary school students and to develop effective methods for their formation. In the process of the study, strategies such as “Skim Reading”, “Active Reading”, “Question Creation”, “Story Structure Identification” and “Graphic Organizers” were used. The results showed that the reading speed, analytical thinking and creative approach of students increased by 25–30%. The study is in line with the international standards of PISA and PIRLS and serves to develop students' critical thinking and independent decision-making abilities.
