Abstract

This article examines the impact of social media on
mental health in contemporary society. It explores both the positive
aspects—such as enhanced communication, access to information, and
opportunities for psychological support—and the negative consequences,
including social comparison, cyberbullying, addiction, and increased
stress levels. The study also analyzes the underlying psychological
mechanisms, such as dopamine-driven feedback loops and the fear of
missing out (FOMO). Furthermore, it offers practical recommendations
for the responsible and balanced use of social media to promote mental
well-being.
