Abstract

The article analyzes the features of translating English military abbreviations into Russian and Uzbek in the context of modern philological education. Particular attention is paid to the linguodidactic potential of digital technologies used in teaching the translation of special terminology. The purpose of the study is to identify the most effective methods of translating English military abbreviations and to assess the potential of digital educational tools in the formation of translation competence among students of the philological department. The research methodology includes comparative analysis, translation analysis, and quantitative analysis of translation transformations. 182 initial abbreviations taken from the US Army field regulations served as the research material. The results showed that the most frequently used methods in translating abbreviations are calculus and modulation. Digital technologies, including electronic corpora, terminological databases, and translation programs, help to more effectively master military terminology and develop students' translation skills.
