PROBLEMS OF THE EAST AND THE FORMATION OF THE TURKISH STATE (VIII-XX centuries)
Main Article Content
Abstract
The article examines how, in the context of the deepening crisis in the East, Turkey remains one of the most stable states. At the same time, complex political processes are taking place within the country, which reflect the struggle between two trends: religious and political conservatism and Islamic modernism. The policy of the Turkish president, aimed at liberalizing socio-political life and foreign policy, is actively hindered by Islamic radicals, who fear the penetration of Western values and the weakening role of Islamic institutions and, accordingly, the loss of their leadership positions in society and the system of power.
